This whisky rarity from the historic cask cellar of the independent Glenfarclas distillery matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry casks. The Single Malt brings out the characteristic sherry flavours perfectly. Rob Roy MacGregor was born in Scotland in 1671. He was a Scottish clan leader in the Age of Enlightenment and was known as a fearless fighter and skilful cattle trader who fought against corrupt landowners and the British government. Today, Rob Roy MacGregor remains a fascinating historical figure in Scottish culture and epitomises indomitable courage and unwavering fighting spirit. As the Scottish Robin Hood, he has been immortalised in works such as "Highland Rogue" by Daniel Defoe and "Rob Roy" by Sir Walter Scott. The 1996 vintage whisky is a tribute to the bold hero.

Glenfarclas
The Glenfarclas distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and is one of the best-known and most successful family-run distilleries in Scotland. The owner family Grant is proud of its private status, which is reflected in the distillery's slogan ‘The Spirit of Independence’. Since 1865, the fifth generation of the Grant family has been shaping the history of the Glenfarclas distillery. This long family tradition guarantees consistent quality and the necessary foresight for a long-lasting product such as Whisky. Hardly any other distillery has so many high-quality and old Whiskies in its warehouses. Glenfarclas is located in beautiful Speyside and has been run by John Grant since 2002. read more

Kommentar: Eine würdige Fortsetzung der "Famous Scots" Reihe, wenn auch jetzt völlig abgehoben im Preis - allerdings verglichen mit einem entsprechenden Family Cask schon fast wieder günstig. Sehr gelungen!
