The Redbreast Pot Still Whiskey is produced at the Midleton distillery on the south coast of Ireland. For the 12-year-old bottling, the Irish whiskey was matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks.

    Nase:
    Fruchtige Noten, Vanille und ein Hauch von Trauben in der Nase.

    Antrunk & Textur:
    Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Redbreast zunächst ölig und süffig, mit leicht fruchtigen Noten.

    Am Gaumen:
    Nach dem Schlucken drückt die Eiche deutlich durch, gefolgt von würzigen Noten und leichter Süße. Der Bourbon-Einfluss zeigt sich in feiner Vanille. Mit jedem Schluck treten Sherry und Eiche stärker hervor, bis sie die anderen Aromen fast überlagern.

    Abgang:
    Im Abgang bleibt vor allem die schon am Gaumen präsente Eiche zurück – lang anhaltend und dominant.

    Fazit:
    Ein guter Whisky für alle, die Eiche- bzw. Holznoten mögen. Mit der Zeit wird er allerdings recht bitter, und die Eiche wirkt dann zu dominant im Vergleich zu den restlichen Aromen. Für einen Irish Whiskey untypisch, aber gut gemacht.
