The Laphroaig PX Cask is the first bottling from the distillery to be matured in Pedro Ximenez casks. After maturing in American oak casks and later being transferred to quarter casks, the bottling received its final finish in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

The Distillery: Laphroaig
Laphroaig (pronounced 'La-froig') means 'the beautiful hollow by a broad bay' in Gaelic. The area around the distillery, which is located on the remote island of Islay (pronounced 'Ei-la') off the west coast of Scotland, is just as beautiful. Laphroaig Whiskies are considered the most smoky-intense malt Whiskies from Scotland.

Aroma: Erst kommt die Süße, gefolgt von dem traditionellen Rauch und Torf, für den Laphroaig bekannt ist. Es gibt Noten von Rosinen, Algen und Nüssen. In der Nase eine wunderbare Balance zwischen den torfigen Laphroaig-Noten und der Sherry-Süße.
Geschmack: Dieser Dram ist etwas Spezielles. Eine Mischung von verschiedenen Geschmäckern. Es gibt Rauch, Weihnachtskuchen, Eiche, Algen, Torf und Teer gemischt mit den Anklängen einer Kohlengrube und etwas Asche. Ein bisschen Schärfe kommt zwischen den süßen Weinnoten hervor. Die Süße ist nicht überwältigend, aber auch nicht so, das sie im Torf untergeht. Er hat eine wunderbare Balance. Ein Tropfen Wasser bringt mehr von der fruchtigen Süße und glättet die torfigen Töne. Aber man muss mit dem Wasser sparsam umgehen.
Abgang: Lange und anhaltend mit Teer, Eiche, Gewürz und endend in fruchtigen süßen Tönen.

Abgang: lang mit Kombi aus Laphroaig Speck-Rauch und dunkler Schokolade, einfach gut.
Kommentar: kann locker mit Laga DE mithalten, für Laphroaig Fans sehr angenehm
