The 12-year-old Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon. It comes straight from the barrel without chill-filtering and at a strong 62.8% vol. A drop of still water is recommended for tasting.

The Heaven Hill distillery is relativity young for a big Whiskey distillery. It was founded two years after the prohibition ended. In 1935 the Old Heavenhill Springs was founded by a group of investors and the Shapira brothers. It was a great risk to invest in such a business and hard times lay ahead for the Heaven Hill distillery.

Aroma: Karamell mit gerösteter Eiche, Fruchtnoten von Apfel und Orange.
Geschmack: Reichhaltige Vanille, Karamell und Butterscotch, zusammen mit Gewürzen aus schwarzem Pfeffer und Zimt im hinteren Teil des Gaumens.

Kommentar: Muss man bei EC BP noch was sagen? Mal abgesehen von dem Treuepunkt den ich hier dafür bekomme, denke ich: "ja"! Hier merkt man wunderbar die kleinen Unterschiede von Batch zu Batch, kann wunderbar vergleichen und im Bourbonhimmel verweilen. Denn wir sprechen hier von einem immer wiederkehrenden Highlight von Heaven Hill. Die Schwankungen sind da, bewegen sich aber immer im Spitzenbereich. Dunkel und schwer zudem Süß und Karamellig mit zarten Vanilletönen. Die Eiche ist immer da, aber nie wirklich störend oder überladen. Den bitte immer wieder im Glas !
